Position OverviewIthaca Energy is accepting applications for the position of Senior Network Engineer, located in our Aberdeen Office.
Reporting to the IT Network Lead, the Senior Network Engineer will have extensive experience in enterprise-scale network environments, with a strong hands-on background in Cisco routing and switching. The role requires expertise in designing, implementing and managing complex on-prem and public cloud network infrastructure to support Ithaca Energy's onshore and offshore operations.
Fully understanding the risk and reward of failing fast and implementing fit-for-purpose or 'minimum viable product' where appropriate is important, while ensuring security, integrity and availability is maintained. You must also understand the features of, and dependencies between technical infrastructure components when considering changes to, and upgrades or replacement of, said components.
Responsibilities- Design, deploy, and maintain a scalable and secure network solutions to support Ithaca Energy's business operations onshore and offshore.
- Configure and maintain routing, switching, and Wi-Fi infrastructure to ensure high availability, resilience and performance.
- Implement and maintain Palo Alto Firewalls and Global Protect VPN to ensure the highest levels of network security, access control, and advanced threat prevention.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and creative thinking skills for diagnosing and resolving complex network issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams and other departments to support network-related projects, including cloud, complex application delivery, security, and infrastructure initiatives.
- Maintain up-to-date network diagrams, documentation, and ensure adherence to security best practices and industry compliance standards.
- Act as your own project manager to ensure your assigned tasks are delivered on-time and to specification.
- Ensure all solutions align with company technical standards and legal/regulatory obligations.
- Ensure agreed performance and availability metrics are realised.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and avoidance, and service improvement.
- Stay updated on emerging network technologies, industry trends, and best practices to continually improve the network infrastructure.
Qualifications & Experience - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Exceptionally, experience may be acceptable in lieu of formal qualifications, in such cases, the candidate must have significant experience in the discipline area.
- Proven experience in a similar role, with exposure to upstream Oil and Gas industry beneficial.
- Demonstrable experience in network administration, analysis, and engineering in a medium to large enterprise environment.
- Able to assimilate new products/technologies rapidly, and to enthusiastically embrace new ideas.

- Cisco Certified Network Professional Routing and Switching (CCNP R&S) or equivalent level of experience.
- PCNSE or advanced level experience of Palo Alto Firewalls.
- ITIL v4 Foundation Certification preferred.
