Job summary

Spire Global seeks a Senior Network Engineer to reinforce on-site antenna network stacks, including servers and network devices at our antennas. The role focuses on routing, overlay networking, edge systems, and cloud connectivity.

The candidate will design L3 topology, implement dynamic routing, build secure multi-hop paths with WireGuard/IPsec, and drive automation with Terraform/Ansible. Hybrid work model; 3 days/week in office.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with IP networking and routing.
• Hands-on experience with BGP (design, operation, troubleshooting).
• Solid understanding of IP networking (routing, switching, TCP/IP, VLANs, MTU) and Linux networking.
• Experience designing and operating VPNs and tunnelling technologies (WireGuard, StrongSwan, GRE + IPsec).
• Experience with AWS networking (VPC, TGW, Cloud WAN, VPN) and edge or hybrid environments.
• Understanding of overlay vs underlay networking.
• Very strong experience with automation (Terraform, Ansible, or similar).
• Strong interest in distributed systems, connectivity, or infrastructure engineering.
• Ability to script or code in Python, Bash, or Go.
• Ability to debug complex distributed systems.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are building a next-generation network connecting satellites, ground stations, and cloud infrastructure . This system must operate across dynamic, intermittent links and deliver data reliably into cloud-based workloads. We are looking for a NetworkEngineer to strengthen the systems deployed directly at our antennas, a set of servers and network devices installed on-site to receive, demodulate, and transport satellite data to the cloud.

This is a hands-on role working across routing, overlay networking, edge systems, and cloud connectivity.

Yourresponsibilities will include:

• Network Design & Architecture:Design L3 network topology across satellite, ground, and cloud environments,define IP addressing schemes, segmentation, and routing domainsand model connectivity patterns and failure scenarios.
• Routing & Connectivity:implement and operate dynamic routing,design route advertisement, filtering, failover strategiesandhandle intermittent and flapping connectivity.
• Overlay & Secure Networking:build secure multi-hop paths,ensure encryption, isolation, and performance.Implement secure tunnel configurations(WireGuard/ IPsec).Define and enforceSSH access policies,firewall rules and least-privilege communication.
• Automation & Infrastructure:develop automation usingTerraform/Ansible.Support scalable rollout and configuration management.
• Operational Integration:Align networking behavior with satellite scheduling and design safe state transitions and failover scenario. Improve observability.

Qualifications:

We’re looking for SeniorNetworkEngineerwith solid technical fundamentals and the drive to learn quicklyworking acrossarchitecture, implementation and troubleshootingwith strong ownership and problem-solving mindset.

Required Skills:

• Strong experience with IP networking and routing (advanced level)
• Hands-on experience with BGP (design, operation, troubleshooting)and distance vector protocols.
• Solid understanding of IP networking(routing, switching, TCP/IP, VLANs, MTU, complex NAT)andofLinux networking.
• Experience designing and operating VPNsandtunnellingtechnologies in complex, distributed environments (WireGuard,StrongSwan, GRE + IPsec)
• Experience with AWS networking (VPC, TGW, Cloud WAN, VPN)andedge or hybrid networking environments.
• Understanding of overlay vs underlay networking.
• Very strong experience with automation(Terraform, Ansible, or similar).

Nice to have

• Exposure to satellite, telecom, or RF systems(non-essential)
• Experience with hardware operations, rack installation, or cable management.
• Familiarity with AWS or any cloud environment.

Spire operates a hybrid work model, and this position will require you to work a minimum of three days per week in the office.
