Job summary

Babcock are hiring a Senior Network Engineer in Corsham/Oakhanger to support the MoD military satellite communications network from the Network Operations Centre. The role is full-time, 37 hours per week, with flexible working arrangements.

You will work in a security-cleared environment, perform health checks, investigations of RF/Baseband, set up user access, and generate state reports. A degree in engineering and a Cisco CCNA certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline.
• Cisco CCNA certification preferred; equivalent demonstration acceptable.
• Ability to obtain and maintain SC security clearance (UK National).

Responsibilities

• Perform health checks of the network and underlying infrastructure.
• Provide 1st line investigations for RF and Baseband.
• Complete set-ups and testing of new user accesses.
• Generate reports to validate network state and inform customers.

The role

As a Senior Network Engineer, you'll play a key role in supporting the operation and maintenance of the UK Ministry of Defence's military satellite communications network. Working within the Network Operations Centre, you'll help ensure the reliability and performance of critical communications systems that support defence operations across the globe.

Day-to-day, you'll be required to:

• Perform health checks of the network and underlying infrastructure

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and is based at Oakhanger and Hawthorn. Flexible working arrangements are available.

Essential experience of the Senior Network Engineer

• Broad understanding of data comms
• Good IP switching and routing skills
• Broad exposure to the telecommunications industry in general
• Exposure to / familiarity with satellite communications systems

Qualifications for the Senior Network Engineer

• Degree or a qualification with equivalent demonstratable experience in a relevant Engineering Discipline.
• A valid Cisco Professional (CCNA) certification is preferred, demonstration of working at this level is also acceptable.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Must be Sole UK National.
