Overview

The post holder will deliver and enhance network and unified communications services, supporting the Trust's mission of "Making life better together" by improving IT infrastructure. The successful candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm for digital service improvements and embody the Trust's values of being respectful, open, collaborative, compassionate, and consistent. They will have a proven track record in network engineering. The post holder reports to the Network Manager. The Senior Network Engineer will deliver and maintain network and unified communication services in accordance with SLAs, ensuring optimal performance and availability. Key responsibilities include:

  • Installing, operating, and maintaining corporate network and unified communications hardware and software, including configuration, documentation, and control.
  • Implementing and managing network monitoring, performance reporting, and efficiencies in the Trust's network infrastructure.
  • Maintaining up-to-date documentation on internal processes and network drawings.
  • Investigating and resolving network issues by providing advice, devising workarounds, correcting faults, or making modifications, ensuring compliance with set standards.
  • Collaborating with suppliers to implement services that meet required service levels.
  • Analysing incidents and problems to identify trends, support proactive problem management, and prevent recurrence.
  • Contributing to key projects and infrastructure performance reviews, providing technical expertise for operational procedures.
  • Creating and maintaining network availability plans to ensure an optimal cost/performance balance.

Opportunity Details

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated Senior Network Engineer (Band 8a) within the Digital Services (IT) Team. Our Digital Service Department oversees all IT and technical telecoms issues across five London Boroughs: Wandsworth, Sutton, Merton, Kingston, Richmond, and Specialist Services, as well as some national services outside of London. We support over 3,500 staff across more than 30 sites. The department procures all IT and telecoms equipment on behalf of the Trust and enforces internal (ITIL) and external (NHS Digital and Department of Health) IT policies and procedures.
