Job summary

Essential Employment is seeking a Senior Network Engineer for Bradford to lead enterprise network and security initiatives. You will manage Cisco-based technologies and support WAN, LAN, Wi‑Fi, VPN, and cloud connectivity in a policing IT environment.

The role requires hands-on design, implementation, and mentoring of junior engineers, plus producing documentation and standards to maintain high performance and security levels.

Qualifications

• Experience in enterprise-scale network and security infrastructure.
• Strong Cisco knowledge and hands-on with ASA/Firepower devices.
• Experience leading upgrades and technical refresh programmes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the support and development of enterprise-scale network and security infrastructure.

• Troubleshoot complex issues and act as escalation point for the wider team.
• Contribute to regional and national IT projects supporting frontline policing.
• Ensure systems meet performance targets, security requirements and service levels.
• Mentor and develop team members, providing technical guidance and leadership.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation, standards and procedures.
