Job summary

CGI Group Inc. is seeking an experienced SDN Engineer to design, deploy and manage software-defined networking solutions in a secure, hybrid environment near Gloucester.

The role requires hands-on work with Cisco ACI and VMware NSX-T to deliver scalable, policy-driven connectivity and segmentation. You will collaborate with cloud, infrastructure and security teams to optimise performance and resilience, supporting mission-critical delivery in a secure setting.

Qualifications

• Proven SDN design, deployment and management experience.
• Experience with Cisco ACI and VMware NSX-T in enterprise or secure environments.
• Understanding of VXLAN and overlay/underlay networking.
• Familiarity with hybrid cloud networking (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Strong troubleshooting across layered networks (L2-7).
• Knowledge of network security, segmentation and Zero Trust principles.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy and manage SDN architectures using Cisco ACI and NSX-T.
• Configure and manage network policies, segmentation and connectivity rules.
• Integrate and optimise hybrid on-prem and cloud environments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex networking issues across virtual and physical layers.

Your future duties and responsibilities In this role, you will design, deploy, and manage software-defined networking solutions across hybrid environments, ensuring secure, scalable, and high-performing network architectures. You will take ownership of SDN platforms, working with technologies such as Cisco ACI and VMware NSX-T to deliver robust connectivity, segmentation, and policy-driven network control aligned to business and technical requirements. You will collaborate closely with cloud, infrastructure, and security teams to optimise network performance and resilience. Within a supportive and expert-led environment, you will contribute innovative solutions, troubleshoot complex issues, and continuously enhance network capabilities to support mission-critical delivery.

• Design & Deliver SDN architectures using Cisco ACI and VMware NSX-T
• Configure & Manage network policies, segmentation, and connectivity rules
• Integrate & Optimise hybrid environments across on-prem and cloud platforms
• Troubleshoot & Resolve complex network issues across virtual and physical layers
• Secure & Enforce network controls including micro-segmentation and access policies
• Collaborate & Align with cloud, infrastructure, and security teams
• Monitor & Improve network performance using advanced analytics and tooling
  You should have strong experience in software-defined networking, with proven expertise in Cisco ACI and VMware NSX-T within enterprise or secure environments. A deep understanding of modern networking concepts and the ability to operate across hybrid infrastructures is essential.
• You should have proven experience with Cisco ACI and VMware NSX-T
• Strong understanding of SDN principles, VXLAN, and overlay/underlay architectures
• Experience with hybrid cloud networking (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Strong troubleshooting skills across Layer 2-7 networking
• Familiarity with network security, segmentation, and Zero Trust principles
• Knowledge of automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform) is advantageous
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNP/CCIE, VCP-NV) are desirable
