Job summary

Cloudflare seeks a Senior Response Engineer (Network Security focused) to join the Managed Defense Center in London. You will architect responses to large-scale DDoS and network threats, guide edge‑level mitigations, and partner with product and AI teams to advance automated defenses.

You will mentor teammates, analyze threats with internal telemetry, and provide strategic guidance during active volumetric attacks, ensuring resilient traffic delivery for global customers.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in DDoS mitigation, network security operations or incident response.
• Expertise in internet routing, BGP, GRE, and edge-based defenses.
• Proficiency in scripting to automate workflows and threat mitigations.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical responses during complex security incidents and large-scale outages.
• Architect and validate network mitigation strategies at the edge (BGP, GRE, DDoS rules).
• Design and tune detection rules and alerts for rapid incident detection.
• Collaborate with product, engineering and AI teams to build automated defense workflows.
• Communicate technical guidance to customer network teams during incidents.
