Overview
Our client, a trusted name in designing and advancing critical infrastructure across the energy sector, is seeking a Senior Network & Cyber Security Engineer to join their Systems Integration team within their growing Digital Consulting division. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on high-impact projects, helping build and secure the future of automation and control systems.

This hybrid role offers flexibility and the chance to work from one of three UK offices - Aberdeen, Staines, or Glasgow - with occasional travel required.

The Opportunity
As a Senior Network & Cyber Security Engineer, you'll be instrumental in shaping secure operational technology (OT) environments. You'll assess and improve the robustness of network architectures, conduct vulnerability assessments, and support the design and implementation of cyber-secure solutions for automation and control systems.

You'll work within a team responsible for delivering complex digital solutions that enable safer and more efficient operations across the energy landscape.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement secure network architectures tailored to control systems and automation solutions.
  • Conduct cyber risk assessments and vulnerability scans of client environments.
  • Develop technical documentation including detailed network diagrams, IP schedules, and test procedures.
  • Produce material requisitions, contribute to technical bid evaluations, and review vendor documentation.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in protocols such as Modbus, OPC, and DNP3, understanding their security implications.
  • Apply industry standards including IEC 62443 and IEC 27001/2.
  • Stay current with cyber threat intelligence, emerging technologies, and regulatory trends.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated, secure, and compliant system designs.
  • Evaluate existing client infrastructures and offer practical improvements to enhance resilience and compliance.
What You Bring
  • Degree in a relevant technical discipline or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Professional certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CWNP, ISA/IEC 62443, or GICSP (highly desirable).
  • Strong background in OT Network Design and Cyber Security Engineering.
  • Familiarity with OT security tools, intrusion detection systems, and control system platforms (Rockwell, Honeywell, Schneider).
  • Good working knowledge of telecom, satellite, and radio-link technologies (desirable).
  • Strong understanding of safety, security, and operational standards across automation and control systems.
Why Apply?
Our client offers:
  • A chance to work on meaningful, cutting-edge projects across high-profile energy organisations.
  • Flexible working arrangements with hybrid and remote options.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package including 33 days annual leave (inclusive of public holidays), private medical cover, life insurance, and a generous pension.
  • Monthly "flex days" and a fully customisable benefits platform.
  • Access to a global team of subject matter experts and ongoing professional development through tailored learning and mentoring programmes.
  • An inclusive culture and a long-term commitment to diversity and innovation.
