Job description

We are looking for an experienced Finance Systems Engineer to own and evolve our finance technology ecosystem – enhancing our use of NetSuite through advanced customisation (including SuiteScript), streamlining our financial processes across platforms like Xero, QuickBooks or Kolleno, and building robust integrations using iPaaS tools such as Celigo.

The company

The Key Group is the leading provider of support for schools and academy trusts, relied upon by over half of all schools in England. Our whole-school approach equips education leaders with trusted resources, guidance, and tools to make a real difference in the sector. We’re part of a group of mission-driven software companies focused on improving outcomes for children through technology.

The role

As our Finance Systems Engineer, you will be a key member of our cross-functional Group Systems Engineering team – ensuring our financial systems are not only robust and scalable but also tightly integrated with our broader tech ecosystem. You will help design, build, and maintain custom solutions in NetSuite, drive efficiency across other accounting tools, and lead data flows and automation through iPaaS platforms and other finance systems.

You will
  • Lead NetSuite customisation using SuiteScript, workflows, custom records and integrations
  • Design and implement scalable, automated integrations between financial systems using Celigo or similar iPaaS tools
  • Collaborate with Finance, Product, and Engineering teams to translate business needs into technical solutions
  • Evaluate and optimise processes in systems like Xero, QuickBooks, Kolleno and Salesforce
  • Troubleshoot, test, and resolve data and systems issues with accuracy and attention to detail

Requirements

The ideal person
  • 4+ years of experience in financial systems engineering or ERP customisation
  • Deep NetSuite experience, including SuiteScript (1.0/2.0), workflows and saved searches
  • Strong experience with at least one other financial system (Xero, QuickBooks, Kolleno etc.)
  • Demonstrated success implementing integrations with iPaaS tools like Celigo, Boomi or Mulesoft
  • Excellent analytical and stakeholder engagement skills – you’re as comfortable with data as you are with people
  • Able to independently lead projects while contributing to the wider business and tech strategy
Nice to have
  • Experience supporting subscription or SaaS-based revenue models
  • Knowledge of financial reporting or FP&A tools
  • Experience working in a scaling SaaS or ed-tech business
Why work for us

We take pride in our positive, flexible and people-first culture. You’ll be joining a collaborative team that trusts you to deliver, supports your growth and genuinely cares about its impact.

We offer:
  • 25 days’ holiday rising to 28 days, plus public holidays and additional Key Days off
  • Generous parental leave policies (up to 20 weeks at full pay)
  • True flexi-time – we don’t track hours, just outcomes
  • Free access to wellbeing, financial and mental health services
  • A remote-first role with the option to visit our offices (London, Bristol, Norwich, Leeds etc.)
  • Monthly in-person team meetups in the South of England
Location

This is a remote role based in the UK. Our team meets in person in our London office once per month

Please note that if you are NOT a passport holder of the country for the vacancy you might need a work permit. Check our Blog for more information.
