Qualifications

• Recent experience caring for sick neonates in ITU/HDU/SCBU.
• Experience in leading a small team.
• Supporting students and junior members of staff.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, efficient, compassionate nursing care for babies and families.
• Promote Integrated family delivered care within Neonatal services.
• Investigate clinical incidents to improve practice.
• Communicate effectively with families and the multidisciplinary team.
• Supervise and assess learning of junior staff and students.

Skills

Understanding of managing resources and clinical risk

Ability to identify stress in self and others

Ability to deputise for nurse in charge

Competency in neonatal cannulation

Advanced computer skills, use of Microsoft Office

Education

RN/ RSCN/ RN Child / RM

Neonatal Qualification in Speciality or Equivalent (e.g. ENB 405)

NMC Standards of Student Supervision and Assessment Qualification

Advanced Resuscitation of the Newborn Infant (ARNI)
