Job summary

BAE Systems in Portsmouth Naval Base is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support Royal Navy surface ship contracts, international naval support, and engineering consultancy projects. The role focuses on power generation, distribution, and automation systems within a multi-disciplinary team.

Circa £49,100 per year, dependent on skills and experience, with security and export control considerations. The closing date is 3 November 2026.

Qualifications

• Degree-level education or equivalent industry experience.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplined team.
• Strong communication skills to engage with stakeholders at the appropriate technical level.
• Understanding of automation systems and the ability to define and capture requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide electrical engineering support for a wide range of platform systems, including power generation and distribution systems.
• Power conversion equipment and motors and motor control equipment.
• Detection and lighting systems.
• Assist in maintaining design integrity across diverse engineering contexts.
• Support structured investigations and impact assessments for assigned projects.
• Contribute to feasibility studies for potential platform and equipment changes.
• Ensure safe and efficient implementation of design changes while maintaining configuration control.
• Assist in developing bids for engineering activities.
