Job description

Summary:

This is a permanent, full-time role within ArtsEd. We are committed to transforming how performers are trained for the modern industry. The appointed person should ideally possess a balance of professional and teaching skills to ensure that ArtsEd remains a leader in professional Musical Theatre training. The School of Musical Theatre offers a BA (Hons) and Cert HE, validated by City, University of London. The current intake includes 50 BA (Hons) students and 30 Foundation students annually, with some funding via the Dance and Drama Awards scheme. Additionally, there is an active outreach and short-course program. The successful applicant will work closely with the Head of Music to uphold high standards in singing and musical education, fostering morale and cooperation across the department with good humour and a positive, ‘can-do’ attitude.

Key responsibilities:

  • Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of young persons under your responsibility and contact.
  • Contributing to the efficient, safe, and effective delivery of high-quality Musical Theatre training.
  • Teaching a range of classes from the current music and singing curriculum, details of which are outlined below.
  • Maintaining high standards in teaching singing, music, and related subjects throughout the School of Musical Theatre.
  • Participating in curriculum review processes as appropriate.
  • Being a member of the Musical Theatre School Executive team.
  • Serving as a Personal Tutor as per the school’s Personal Tutor policy.
  • Possibly taking on other pastoral responsibilities, including Head of Year duties.
  • Participating in the audition and selection process.
  • Representing the school in external concerts and events as required.
  • Assessing student progress through written Critical Reflection journals, practical classwork, projects, performances, and end-of-year assessments.
  • Monitoring student attendance and maintaining discipline within the student body.
