With an electrical, mechanical or building services background, your expertise will support our multidisciplinary team in a range of vital works. Familiarity of maintaining a large campus with a range of buildings, from state-of-the-art new builds to historic buildings, would be beneficial.

You should demonstrate digital literacy with Building Management Systems (BMS) experience and be willing to use Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) to receive jobs, and report accurate notes.

Excellent training and progression options are available with opportunities to work towards a Competent/Appointed Person (CP & AP) position for a range of disciplines according to the requirements of the Department.

You will participate in the 'on-call' rota and with the stability of being primarily based at Southmead Hospital, support to other Trust premises within the Bristol locality will be necessary from time to time. We are looking to fill full-time hours, however we would be happy to discuss part-time hours and flexible core hours.

Main duties of the job

As a Senior multiskilled engineer you will:

  • Install, maintain, service and repair the full range of estates specialist equipment, plant and infrastructure throughout the North Bristol NHS Trust Estate.
  • Problem solve technical issues and faults on Mechanical and Electrical systems.
  • Provide technical advice to other estates maintenance staff and contractors to ensure compliance with safety standards and procedures.
  • Respond to building management system alarms. eg. Fire alarms, lift trappings, Medical Gas Alarms, Boiler Alarms.
  • Provide an emergency out of hour's service, working a rotating shift pattern covering 365 days a year subject to appropriate negotiations.
