Job summary

Central Bedfordshire Council is seeking an experienced Lead Child Protection Practitioner to influence safeguarding practice across the MACPT. You will work with managers, social workers and partner agencies to promote high-quality, child-centred decision-making.

This senior role focuses on professional leadership, oversight and constructive challenge, driving improvements for children and families within the Families First transformation. Hybrid working options available.

Qualifications

• Registered social worker with substantial post-qualifying experience.
• Experience in senior practice leadership roles within child protection.
• Proven ability to influence multi-agency decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-agency decision-making in complex child protection cases.
• Chair Strategy Discussions and Initial/Review Child Protection Conferences.
• Provide oversight and quality assurance of safeguarding practice.
• Support practitioners and managers through consultation and guidance.
• Build trusted relationships with children, families and partners to ensure voices are central.
• Contribute to service development and safeguarding practice improvement.
