Job summary

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Physiotherapist to work as part of the MSK Service assessing and treating patients referred to Physiotherapy in the Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland area. Clinically you may work in the Physiotherapy Department at the One Life in Middlesbrough, Redcar Primary Care Hospital, East Cleveland Hospital or Guisborough Hospital

The service receives referrals from many sources including Consultants and GPs and operates from a number of different venues.

Applications are invited from Physiotherapists who have post graduate experience in musculoskeletal physiotherapy as well as an interest and enthusiasm in this field. The team is friendly and supportive and senior specialists offer clinical supervision and support.

Successful applicants will treat patients referred to the Physiotherapy Service in the Trust and there are opportunities for case discussions and an In-Service Training Programme. Staff are also supported in their continuous professional development through clinical supervision. Participation in audit and research is encouraged.

Main duties of the job

To provide an effective and efficient clinical service to patients referred with musculoskeletal conditions or injuries within the framework of clinical governance.

To perform advanced physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, to provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme to patients .

To hold responsibility for own case load and be responsible for a defined area of the service or a particular patient type, working without direct supervision.

Access to advice and support from Senior Specialist Physiotherapists & Advanced Practitioners is available.

Person specification

Experience

• To have significant experience of working with patients with musculoskeletal conditions


• Experience working within the NHS


• Can demonstrate relevant/varied post-graduate experience across a variety of clinical areas at Band 5 level


• Member of a professional body and/or specific interest group

Knowledge and Skills

• Theoretical knowledge and applied clinical practice in the assessment and treatment of patients with musculoskeletal conditions


• Competent IT skills to use electronic patient records and other Trust systems


• Timekeeping, planning and prioritisation skills


• Evidence of MDT working


• Demonstrates advanced clinical reasoning skills


• Good understanding of the structure, policies, priorities and format of the NHS


• Fluent in written and verbal English


• Knowledge of relevant national guidelines and standards


• Demonstrates analyitcal skills and judgment when dealing with the therapy management of complex patients

Qualifications and Training

• BSc or Diploma in Physiotherapy


• HCPC Registration


• Achieved or willing to work towards relevant Post-Graduate qualification/training
