Job summary

University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Senior Mortuary Technician to supervise Mortuary Technicians across Worthing, St Richard's, Royal Sussex and Princess Royal Hospitals, with travel between sites. You will manage rotas, ensure safe storage and release of deceased patients, and maintain HTA compliance and high standards of dignity.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology or equivalent qualification.
• Level 2 certificate in Mortuary Support or equivalent.
• Full UK driving licence and ability to travel between sites.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily mortuary operations across multiple sites and supervise staff rotas.
• Oversee admission, care, storage and release of deceased patients and their property.
• Maintain HTA compliance, governance and service quality through audits and SOP updates.
• Provide compassionate support to bereaved families and facilitate viewings and funerals.
• Support coronial, hospital and forensic post-mortems and partner with external agencies.
