Job summary

Checkout.com in London is seeking a senior mobile engineer to design and build high-performance mobile experiences used by millions of consumers worldwide. You will define architecture, lead technical discovery, and partner with engineering and product leaders to shape our mobile platform.

Working closely with backend teams, you’ll drive end-to-end feature delivery, champion best practices, and mentor peers to help scale our consumer offering.

About The Role

Checkout.com is on a mission to transform the shopping experience for millions of consumers. As a senior individual contributor in mobile, you’ll help design and build the products we put in the hands of our end users.

Working hand-in-hand with our engineering team and product leaders, you’ll be crafting high-performance, user-friendly experiences, which operate at scale. Your role will extend beyond writing code - you’ll define architecture, lead technical discovery, and help us build the foundations that underpin our consumer offering.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Architecting and building the mobile experiences that are used directly by millions of consumers around the world.
• Owning feature development end-to‑end, from discovery through to development, and monitoring through to maintenance.
• Working closely with backend teams to ensure the underlying systems we build are aligned to support our mobile product evolution.
• Championing best practices across the technical domain (testing, monitoring, release strategy, etc) to strengthen our foundations as we build our products.
• Mentoring peers, reviewing code, and contributing to the long-term technical vision for mobile development at Checkout.com.

Should have

• Solid background in mobile technologies (e.g. working with at least one of: native iOS, native Android, React Native)
• Proven track record building scalable and highly performant consumer experiences across the mobile domain
• Experience building and maintaining mobile apps or SDKs used by a large, active, user base.
• Passionate about developer experience - clear APIs, great docs, and reliability at scale.
• Excellent communication skills and experience collaborating with product, design, and backend peers.

Nice to have

• Previous experience in payments, fintech, or other security-sensitive domains.
• Exposure to PCI compliance, tokenization, or secure data handling.
