Job summary

News UK is seeking a Principal Apps Engineer to lead technical conversations and define the technical strategy alongside the Head of Engineering. You will hire, grow, and run the team while delivering best-in-class mobile features for The Sun across print and digital platforms.

You will collaborate with engineers, product owners and stakeholders to ensure alignment with business needs, maintain code quality, review code, and guide release processes in an agile environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in native mobile app development for iOS and Android.
• Proficient in TDD/BDD to ensure app stability.
• Capable of leading code reviews and maintaining high code quality.
• Able to communicate technical concepts to stakeholders and communities.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for mobile apps.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical direction and discussions within the team.
• Ensure best practice and code quality are maintained.
• Support existing and new features to support business needs across Sun.
• Work with stakeholders to understand requirements and define ticket requirements.
• Assist with the release process to deploy new features/fixes to production.
