Job summary

Filtronic is seeking a Senior MMIC Design Engineer to join its expanding engineering team at NETPark, Sedgefield (UK). You will lead design and development of high‑performance MMICs for space, defence and communications, from concept through to production, working with GaAs, GaN and InP technologies.

You will mentor engineers, perform thermal and reliability assessments and collaborate with foundries and test labs to validate devices and ensure on‑time delivery.

Qualifications

• Significant industrial experience in MMIC design within the semiconductor industry.
• Strong experience designing RF amplifiers, LNAs and frequency conversion using GaAs/GaN MMIC HEMT technologies.
• Excellent hands-on RF measurement and device characterisation with probe stations and RF test gear.
• Experience taking designs from concept through fabrication and verification.
• Solid understanding of RF/microwave communication systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and layout advanced MMICs using GaAs, GaN and InP technologies.
• Develop high-performance LNAs, PAs, gain blocks, converters, varactors and frequency multipliers.
• Select processes for new MMIC designs and perform simulations, optimization and verification.
• Produce complete design documentation and support fabrication release.
• Collaborate with foundries and test teams across development stages.
