Job summary

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust in London is recruiting a Midwifery Matron for Professional Practice (Band 8a) on a fixed-term six-month contract. The role focuses on staff wellbeing, development, and evidence-based care within a large tertiary maternity service.

Qualifications

• Registered midwife with current UK registration.
• First-level degree in a related healthcare discipline or substantial experiential equivalence.
• Post-graduate qualification and/or equivalent knowledge gained through extensive experience.
• Leadership qualifications and/or experience.
• Evidence of continuing professional development.
• Master’s qualification and teaching/educational experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional, clinical and operational leadership to midwifery and nursing practice.
• Line manage professional development midwives, fetal well-being midwives and support midwives.
• Ensure safe, evidence-based training aligned with NMC and NHS England priorities.
• Collaborate with leadership and education leads to audit training records.
