Job summary

St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Consultant Plastic Surgeon with a Special Interest in Reconstructive Microsurgery to join the Plastic Surgery team in Tooting. The role focuses on complex microsurgical reconstruction with emphasis on lower limb trauma and breast reconstruction, working within a large tertiary department across Southwest London and Surrey.

Qualifications

• MB ChB or equivalent
• Full GMC Registration
• FRCS (Plast) or equivalent
• CCT in Plastic Surgery, or within six months of CCT at the time of interview
• Higher degree (MD or PhD)
• Additional fellowship or advanced training in microsurgery and/or complex reconstruction
• Broad experience and training across emergency and elective Plastic Surgery
• Substantial experience in microsurgical and complex reconstructive surgery
• Experience in the management and reconstruction of complex lower limb trauma
• Experience of breast reconstruction

Responsibilities

• Provide a comprehensive microsurgical and complex reconstructive Plastic Surgery service.
• Work with Trauma & Orthopaedics on assessment and management of complex lower limb reconstruction.
• Undertake microvascular tissue transfer where clinically appropriate.
• Contribute to breast reconstruction including immediate and delayed procedures.
• Participate in teaching and supervision of residents and medical students.
• Contribute to governance, audit, research and quality improvement activities.
