Job summary

Delta XD Limited in the UK is seeking a Senior Metrology Engineer to lead high-accuracy inspection work and develop junior engineers within the team. You will work hands-on with ZEISS GOM, ATOS, ScanBox and PolyWorks, perform GD&T analysis, and produce clear technical outputs from customer sites across the UK.

This role offers autonomy, regular UK travel, and the chance to contribute to the growth of our metrology capability.

Qualifications

• Solid background in dimensional metrology or precision inspection.
• Strong GD&T knowledge and ability to interpret complex drawings.
• Confidence working independently with customers on-site measurement equipment.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute detailed dimensional inspection tasks to high technical standards.
• Work on-site at customer facilities across the UK, with occasional international travel.
• Produce clear inspection reports including GD&T evaluation and CAD-based analysis.

• Mentor junior engineers and support capability development.
• Contribute to automation initiatives and process improvements.
• Maintain professional customer-facing presence on-site.

Senior Metrology Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Metrology Engineer to lead high-accuracy inspection work and support the development of junior team members.

Delta XD is seeking an experienced Senior Metrology Engineer to take a lead role in deliveringhigh-accuracy dimensional inspection and analysis across a wide range of critical industries. You will work hands-on with advanced metrology equipment and software, while also supportingthe technical development of junior engineers within the team.

This role will suit someone with strong practical inspection experience who is comfortable workingindependently on customer sites, producing high-quality technical outputs, and contributing to thecontinued development of Delta XD’s metrology capability.

Based in Basingstoke and operating nationally and internationally, Delta XD combines deep technicalexpertise with rapid delivery—helping OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers maintain precision and confidencein their products and processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and execute detailed dimensional inspection and measurement tasks to a high technical standard.
• Work on-site at customer facilities across the UK, with occasional international travel.
• Produce clear, professional inspection reports including GD&T evaluation and CAD-based analysis.
• Operate and program ZEISS GOM, ATOS, ScanBox and PolyWorks systems.
• Support and mentor junior engineers, helping to develop skills and best practice.
• Assist with internal capability development, automation initiatives and process improvements.
• Maintain a strong customer-facing presence, representing Delta XD professionally on-site.

What You’ll Need

• A solid background in dimensional metrology or precision inspection.
• Hands-on experience with ZEISS, GOM or PolyWorks systems (or equivalent metrology platforms).
• Strong GD&T knowledge with the ability to interpret complex engineering drawings.
• Confidence working independently with customers and on-site measurement equipment.
• A clean UK driving licence.
• UK nationality (required for UK and US military security clearance).
• Based within commutable distance of the Delta XD office in Basingstoke, or willing to relocate.

Desirable

• Programming or scripting experience (e.g. Python) to support automation or data processing.
• Familiarity with automated measurement systems, including ZEISS ScanBox platforms.
• Experience working within aerospace, defence or other regulated manufacturing environments.
