Job summary

South Gloucestershire Council is seeking a Senior Practitioner in an integrated Mental Health Team to improve services for adults in the community. You will lead the team’s day-to-day operations, provide guidance to staff, and supervise social workers and students on placement.

You will work with housing, health and social care partners, the courts and police to develop multi-agency policies, manage risk, and ensure Care Act compliance.

Qualifications

• Must hold a SWE-registered social work qualification.
• Post-qualifying experience in social care with complex caseloads.
• Knowledge of the Care Act and the Mental Capacity Act; ability to assess and manage risk.

Responsibilities

• Provide advice and support to staff and members of the public.
• Supervise social workers and support ASYE and students on placement.
• Collaborate with housing, health and social care partners, courts, housing and police on multi-agency work.
• Manage risk, safeguarding and DOLS; may hold a case load to keep skills current.
• Complete Care Act assessments and support colleagues in undertaking these assessments to ensure compliance.
• Prioritise and allocate work, including managing waiting lists.
