We are seeking a Band 6 Senior Mental Health Practitioner (must be a qualified SW, OT or Nurse) to provide maternity leave cover on a fixed term basis. This role offers a unique opportunity to try something different temporarily, with the possibility of staying long-term.

The CAMHS SPA is a centralised service supporting enquiries and referrals for Children and Young People across BaNES and Wiltshire CAMHS. It is the first contact point for new referrals and enquiries, supporting self, parent/carer, and professional referrals. Our system ensures all contacts are reviewed clinically and promptly to provide appropriate support at the right time by the right service.

As part of the team, you will be supported by a dynamic group passionate about meeting the needs of children, young people, and their families. The role involves working alongside colleagues in the core CAMHS team, other professionals in wider CAMHS, and external agencies.

The SPA team is based at Melksham Hospital, Wiltshire, adopting a hybrid working model to balance face-to-face and remote interactions.

Responsibilities include delivering phone/virtual consultations to children, young people, parents/carers, and professionals to assess mental health needs and risks, and to determine the appropriate support within CAMHS or other agencies.

You should possess excellent communication skills, be calm and organized, and proficient in documentation, Excel, and Word. The role can be challenging, but you will be supported in a positive environment.

We promote continuous learning through regular training and supervision, including virtual consultations with secondary schools/colleges and school nurses in Wiltshire and BaNES. The trust values wellbeing, with regular team activities, and provides structured supervision to support staff development.

Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust provides comprehensive physical, mental health, and social care services across multiple regions, delivering care close to home at various community settings.

Our vision is to ensure everyone receives “Outstanding care delivered by an outstanding team” and our values are “Caring, safe and excellent”.

Benefits include career progression opportunities, tailored learning, generous annual leave, NHS discounts, pension scheme, lease car, cycle scheme, Employee Assistance Programme, Mental Health First Aiders, staff accommodation, and support groups.
