Job summary

North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking an experienced RMN to lead and deliver high-quality mental health care in a 24-hour clinical setting. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, provide staff mentorship and ensure evidence-based practice.

The post requires a registered RMN with degree-level education, and a track record of clinical leadership, service development and 24-hour responsibility across a clinical area.

Key Duties/Responsibilities

• To act at all times in accordance with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) code of professional Conduct or relevant professional body.
• To perform all aspects of the role in accordance with Trust policies and other national bodies.
• To participate in the assessment of care needs and the development implementation and evaluation of individual care plans.
• To provide specialist advice to other members of staff and act as a role model.
• In conjunction with the Team Manager, to take responsibility for setting, maintaining and evaluating standards of care throughout the 24-hour period.
• To liaise with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and outside agencies in the implementation of patient care.
• To ensure that care activities are research based and in keeping with changes in the field of activity.
• To contribute to the development of ideas and innovative practice.
• To initiate and participate in departmental audit as requested by the Team Manager.

• Post-registration experience to post-graduate diploma or Master's level. Evidence of clinical development/management of change. Collaborative working. Ability to provide managerial and clinical leadership. Ability to have overall 24-hour responsibility for the clinical area and MDT team. Ability to delegate. Ability to induct any staff member to the area with confidence. Sound experience in area applied for or experience in an equivalent area. Ability to tackle staff management issues, i.e. complaints and disciplinary issues. Motivated and innovative. Setting, monitoring and maintaining standards, ensuring high standards. Able to monitor staff performance and undertake PRs/action to redress poor performance. Ability to formulate and implement new ideas.
