Job summary

A leading fashion company is looking for a Senior Menswear Designer to join their team on a maternity contract. The role involves creating original designs while managing junior members of the team, with opportunities for travel and collaboration. We're now looking for an established Senior Menswear Designer, ideally with a jersey, sweat and graphics background, on a maternity contract for 9-12 months.

Key roles and responsibilities

  • Creating and developing original design ideas, concepts, embroideries, fabrications and seasonal themes
  • Sourcing of relevant fabrics to meet the design requirements
  • Trend packs/colour inspiration
  • Managing and developing junior members of the team
  • Providing support to the Design Manager
  • Liaising with Account Manager regularly
  • Liaising with factories and overseas offices
  • Range reviews with Directors
  • Maintaining strong relationship with Buyers
  • Work to departmental deadlines and critical paths to ensure product is supplied within an effective timeframe to the customer
  • Managing expenses and returns
  • Inspiration and sourcing trips, including opportunity for overseas travel

Skills required:

  • +4 years minimum background in design
  • Experience working within menswear (jersey, sweat, fleece and graphics) preferred
  • Good understanding of illustrator and/or photoshop
  • Creative and trend driven with an eye for colour and fabric
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Team player and able to build relationships
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Manage challenges in a calm and positive manner
