Job summary

Putney Town Rowing Club is seeking a Senior Men's Lead Coach to direct and deliver the 2026/27 Senior Men's programme. The role focuses on developing competitive athletes, fostering a positive squad culture and working with the coaching team to achieve performance goals.

The Lead Coach will shape the programme, plan training and racing, coach sessions, and guide crew selection while supporting club operations and development pathways for athletes aiming at major head races and regattas.

Qualifications

  • Experience coaching competitive senior rowers.
  • Strong technical knowledge of rowing and communication of it effectively.
  • Ability to plan and deliver a progressive training programme.
  • Clear and fair approach to crew selection.
  • Strong communication, organisation and leadership skills.
  • Collaborative approach with other coaches and volunteers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the direction and delivery of the Senior Men's rowing programme.
  • Develop a structured annual training and racing programme.
  • Lead water sessions and provide clear technical coaching to athletes and crews.
  • Plan crew development and make performance-based selection decisions.
  • Set expectations around training, attendance and squad standards.
  • Monitor development and provide regular feedback.
  • Coordinate with support coaches for consistent delivery.
  • Identify racing opportunities and prepare crews for competition.
  • Build squad depth and create progression pathways.
  • Collaborate with Senior Women's Lead Coach and captains on operations.
