The opportunity:

Are you an experienced Medical Underwriter looking for a new challenge? Zurich Corporate Risk, one of the fastest growing group risk providers in the market, started over 10 years ago and has continued to grow strongly. To support its growth, ZCR is now seeking an experienced Medical Underwriter.

As a Medical Underwriter, you will be responsible for making sound underwriting decisions for group life and income protection schemes for both new and existing clients.

What will you be doing?

You will join a team of Administrators, Underwriters, and Senior Underwriters, interacting daily with brokers and intermediaries. Your activities will include:

1. Making medical underwriting decisions within your authority limits, aligned with Zurich’s philosophy.
2. Providing technical support and guidance to customers and distributors, ensuring excellent service.
3. Staying updated on medical underwriting practices considering experience and market trends.
4. Enhancing process efficiency through best practices.
5. Meeting key business, team, and individual KPIs.
6. Collaborating with Medical Officers and reassurance companies as needed.
7. Maintaining external distributor relationships by requesting appropriate evidence, making correct decisions, and explaining non-standard decisions.
8. Handling queries and referrals within your authority, assessing risk to uphold standards.
9. Monitoring processes for improvement opportunities.
10. Ensuring compliance and governance across the team.
11. Sharing best practices with colleagues.
12. Delivering outstanding service to customers and stakeholders.
13. Contributing to a positive team culture.
14. Managing your workload to deliver quality and timely outputs, supporting colleagues as needed.

Who are we looking for?

• Experience in medical underwriting in corporate or protection sectors.
• CII Diploma in Underwriting preferred but not essential.
• Knowledge of the UK corporate risk market.
• Strong understanding of underwriting principles, regulations, and guidelines.
• Excellent risk assessment and decision-making skills.
• High attention to detail and focus on quality.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
• Passion for customer service and continuous improvement.
