Job summary

The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Surgical Neurosciences Senior Medical Secretary to provide a comprehensive secretarial service to Consultants and the medical team. You will support administrative processes to sustain the Consultants’ practice across three Surgical Services and may need to cover colleagues during absence.

Qualifications

• Typing/IT qualification or equivalent required.
• Ability to accurately transcribe complex audio and medical information.
• Ability to maintain sensitivity when dealing with patients and families.
• Good judgement in handling patient enquiries and problems.
• Excellent organisation, prioritisation and ability to work under pressure.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills at all levels.
• Tactful and diplomatic in all interactions.

Responsibilities

• Provide a comprehensive medical secretarial service to Consultants and the medical team.
• Support and administer processes to sustain Consultants practice via administrative protocols.
• Cover for colleagues during absence and work flexibly across Surgical Services.
• Develop and maintain close working relationships with consultants and the neuroscience teams.
