An appropriate speed and accuracy of typing is required and will be assessed at interview. RSA III typing/word processing (or equivalent experience) is highly desirable; however, a typing test will be conducted at interview. Medical secretarial and typing experience is essential.
This role is primarily based at Bradford Royal Infirmary, with occasional work across sites at St Luke's Hospital to provide coverage.
As a Senior Medical Secretary, you will work within a multi-disciplinary team, managing patient pathways including outpatient and inpatient waiting lists, arranging elective admissions, diary management, audio transcription, and processing clinical letters. You will also be involved with our Multi-Disciplinary Cancer teams.
You should have a methodical approach, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to handle interactions with patients, relatives, carers, and medical staff. Teamworking, a good telephone manner, tact, and a helpful attitude are essential. You should be literate, numerate, well-organized, and IT-savvy, capable of working independently.
