Job summary

Bristol NHS Foundation Trust is hiring a Medical Physics Expert (MPE) to support Nuclear Medicine and/or Diagnostic Radiology physics across services. You will ensure IR(ME)R compliance, radiation protection, and dose optimisation in a large NHS setting.

The post requires extensive HCPC registered clinical scientist expertise, MPE certification (RPA2000), and leadership to mentor teams. The role supports education, quality assurance and service development across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• BSc Hons Physics or equivalent is required.
• MSc or higher degree or equivalent with specialist knowledge.
• HCPC Registration as Clinical Scientist is required.
• Medical Physics Expert certification with RPA2000 is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert scientific advice for safe use of ionising radiation across NM, PET/CT and Diagnostic Radiology.
• Act as Medical Physics Expert for Bristol NHS Foundation Trust and other organisations as needed.
• Support radiation protection, dosimetry, QA and optimisation.
• Lead education, training and mentorship within medical physics staff and clinical teams.
• Advise on equipment procurement and optimal use of imaging technologies.
• Contribute to research and development in Nuclear Medicine and Diagnostic Radiology Physics.
