Job summary

The Lead Medical Examiner role at Epsom & St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust leads the ME service across ESTH and partner PCNs, ensuring robust scrutiny of deaths and proper certification. You will supervise Medical Examiners and Officers and report to the Site Chief Medical Officer and Regional Medical Examiner for London.

UK GMC-registered medical practitioner with leadership and governance experience is required; the post is a fixed-term 36 months with a part-time commitment of one

Qualifications

• Medical practitioner registered and licensed to practise in the UK (GMC).
• Experience leading clinical teams and governance activities.
• Ability to engage with bereaved families with empathy and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Medical Examiner Service across ESTH and associated PCNs.
• Scrutinise deaths and ensure accurate death certification.
• Collaborate with clinicians, coroners and registries to deliver high-quality service.
• Maintain comprehensive records and report to National Medical Examiner’s office.
