Job summary

Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking an experienced Lead Medical Examiner to oversee the Medical Examiner Service at ESTH and partner sites. The role requires clinical credibility, integrity, and strong communication to engage with bereaved families and clinical teams.

The Lead ME will lead a team of Medical Examiners and Medical Examiner Officers, ensure compliant death certification, contribute to clinical governance, and report to the Trust Board and Regional Medical

Qualifications

• Experience as Medical Examiner (ME) and leadership of ME teams.
• Excellent communication with bereaved families and colleagues.
• Commitment to GMC guidelines and professional standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Medical Examiner Service at ESTH, Sutton PCN and Epsom PCN.
• Oversee death certification reviews and governance activities.
• Collaborate with clinicians, coroners, registries and ICB colleagues.
• Ensure non-discrimination and respectful treatment of all users.
