Job summary

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a skilled biomedical technician to diagnose, repair and maintain complex medical equipment at Solihull Hospital. You will conduct safety testing, support lifecycle management and assist clinical teams with technical guidance.

The role requires extensive experience with medical devices, an electronics background, and the ability to work under pressure. On-call duties and flexible working are part of the package.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment.
• Experience with electronics, mechanics, pneumatics and relevant clinical systems.
• Ability to record, analyse and interpret work data.
• Experience in neonatal units is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Carry out fault diagnosis, repairs and preventative maintenance on complex medical equipment.
• Perform electrical safety testing and verification for clinical use.
• Support equipment lifecycle management and quality systems compliance.
• Provide technical advice to clinical and nursing staff.
• Participate in on-call and emergency support for critical devices.
