Job summary

Senior Mechanical Test Engineer position based in Telford, within a global automotive component manufacturer. You will be responsible for design validation and product testing in a laboratory setting, mentoring technicians and junior engineers on a multidisciplinary test facility.

The role involves preparing test setups, collecting data, and delivering technical reports, with a competitive salary and benefits package including pension, life assurance, and substantial holiday allowance.

Qualifications

• Experience performing mechanical testing of components and systems.
• Familiarity with instrumentation and data acquisition.
• Degree or HND in mechanical/electrical/automotive engineering.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Ability to mentor and lead technicians and engineers in a lab environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up test equipment, instrumentation and fixtures.
• Develop test methods, procedures, rigs and fixtures.
• Carry out testing per customer requirements and standards.
• Review test data and support technical reports.
• Produce risk assessments and ensure safe testing.
• Collaborate with engineers, technicians and customers to resolve issues.
• Support continuous improvement across the test facility.
