Job Description

A new opportunity has opened for a Senior Test Engineer with a mechanical background to join a busy engineering team based near the South Coast. The role involves hands-on work with complex mechanical systems, supporting the full test lifecycle from planning to execution and reporting.

You’ll play a key role in setting up and running test activities, ensuring product reliability and performance. The position also involves mentoring junior team members and helping improve testing processes and tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define test requirements from technical drawings and specifications
  • Develop test plans and ensure full coverage of product needs
  • Design and source test fixtures (e.g., adaptor plates, shafts) with CAD support
  • Set up and run test rigs, including data acquisition and inspections
  • Coordinate external testing with suppliers and third parties
  • Analyse results and write clear, detailed test reports
  • Ensure safety and quality standards are met
  • Support junior engineers and help build team capability
  • Contribute to the development of the test facility

What You’ll Need:

  • Solid experience in mechanical or systems testing
  • Degree (or equivalent experience) in an engineering field
  • Ability to read technical drawings and perform calculations
  • CAD skills for designing test hardware
  • Familiarity with tools like LabVIEW, enVigil, or similar
  • Experience with instrumentation (e.g., thermocouples, LVDTs, tachometers)
  • Strong communication and reporting skills
  • Industry knowledge in a regulated or complex environment
  • Willing to travel occasionally
