Job summary

Rise Technical Recruitment is seeking a Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer in Bedford (commutable from Milton Keynes, Northampton, Cambridge, Kettering, Luton, Stevenage). You will maintain and improve legacy plant and machinery, design and implement new mechanical systems, and lead refurbishment projects for complex industrial facilities.

The role offers £50,000-£55,000, day shifts, training & Development, Private Health Insurance, 26 Days Holiday (+ BH) and Pension.

Qualifications

Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
5+ years of industrial engineering experience involving plant, machinery or process equipment.
Experience leading engineering projects through full design lifecycle.
Understanding of engineering design control and change management.
Experience with CAD or engineering analysis software is desirable.
Experience with control systems, electronics or engineering software is advantageous.

Responsibilities

Maintain and improve legacy plant and machinery.
Design and implement new mechanical systems.
Lead refurbishment and upgrade projects for complex industrial plant and facilities.
Review operational data and manage suppliers.
Support commissioning activities and drive continuous improvement across industrial equipment and infrastructure.
Ensure reliability, safety and long‑term performance of critical plant and infrastructure.
