This role, valued over £25M, involves project management from inception to completion, including stakeholder coordination and compliance with design specifications. Competitive salary of £50K-£60K plus a £4.5K car allowance and benefits package.

Job Description

You will like delivering mechanical building services projects from the Leeds or Sheffield office for this mechanical & electrical contractor with a reputation for quality and attention to detail. They are in an excellent position currently and have a healthy pipeline, justifying sustainable growth.

You will like the Senior Mechanical Projects Engineer role itself, where you will be responsible for the Project Management, Coordination, Installation, and commissioning of large-scale HVAC, BMS, UPS & Chiller/Cooling systems retrofit for a datacentre/computer centre. The value of the initial client/project is £25M+.

More specifically, you will:

  • Develop system specifications and prepare construction drawings and documentation, plant and equipment schedules for mechanical HVAC systems.
  • Handle technical submissions and RFI communication with PMs.
  • Place orders with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Coordinate the works, including subcontractors.
  • Manage the entire contract costs from inception to final account, including preparing and agreeing on monthly applications for payments.
  • Keep track of project costs, including labour and material expenditure, and forecasts.
  • Manage variation and additional works and their associated costs.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections, and attend client and subcontractor meetings.
  • Resolve problems and issues during construction.
  • Organise services commissioning and startup of new systems.
  • Prepare operating and maintenance literature.
  • Provide technical support and training to clients.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest HVAC technologies.

To be successful as a Senior Mechanical Projects Engineer, you should have experience working within the Building Services Sector as a Mechanical Project Manager, Contracts Manager, Site Manager, MEP Manager, or M&E Manager.

Plus, a healthy mix of the following qualifications and experience:

  • HND / HNC or preferably a Bachelor's degree in HVAC mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in the design and construction of Mechanical HVAC systems.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC principles and practices.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modelling (BIM) software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
