Senior Mechanical Project Manager

Hours: Total Hours per week 40
Contract: Permanent
Project Detail:Multiple Residential [10 million]
Location:Thames Valley (Covering Oxford/Reading location with a 1-1.5 hour radius)

About the Role: We are looking for an accomplished Senior Mechanical Project Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will bring a strong history of leading complex, high-value projects from inception through completion—consistently delivering results on schedule, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all phases of mechanical projects, from planning and design through execution and close-out.
  • Develop and manage detailed project schedules, budgets, and resource plans to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Collaborate closely with clients, architects, engineers, and key stakeholders to align project objectives and expectations.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to assess progress, ensure adherence to technical specifications, and enforce safety and quality standards.
  • Prepare and deliver comprehensive project reports, including performance metrics, timelines, and risk assessments, to senior leadership and clients.
  • Proactively identify project risks and implement effective mitigation strategies to minimize impact on delivery and outcomes.
  • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with clients, vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure smooth project execution and long-term partnership success.

Skills Required:

  • Exceptional Communication Skills: Able to convey complex technical information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences, including clients, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
  • Advanced Multitasking & Organisational Ability: Skilled at managing multiple high-priority initiatives and complex project components simultaneously without compromising quality or deadlines.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Proven ability to work seamlessly across departments.
  • Strong Commercial Acumen: Deep understanding of project financials, cost control, and value engineering to drive profitability and strategic decision-making.
  • Effective Negotiation Skills: Adept at securing favourable terms with clients, contractors, and vendors while maintaining positive working relationships.
  • Strategic Leadership: Demonstrates decisive leadership, motivating teams, managing conflict, and driving performance in fast-paced, high-stakes environments.

  • CSCS Skill-card
  • SMSTS preferred OR SSSTS
  • Higher Education Project Management Qualifications (desirable but not essential)
