Job summary

The Senior Mechanical Project Engineer / Mechanical Project Manager role with People Group is based near Norwich/Cambridge on a major life sciences project. You will lead mechanical building services installation from early procurement through commissioning and handover, coordinating multi-disciplinary teams on site.

The ideal candidate holds a mechanical qualification and has experience delivering complex packages in construction, with strong coordination, safety and QA.

Qualifications

• Relevant mechanical qualification (HNC/HND or degree) or demonstrable mechanical background.
• Experience delivering mechanical building services on large-scale or complex projects.
• Strong coordination of mechanical services with other disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate mechanical building services installations throughout the project lifecycle.
• Oversee mechanical subcontractors, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme and to the required quality standards.
• Coordinate mechanical services with electrical, structural and architectural disciplines to ensure effective integration on site.
• Monitor project progress, identify potential issues and implement solutions to maintain programme milestones.
• Review technical drawings, specifications and design information, resolving any technical queries as they arise.
• Work closely with the project management and engineering teams to ensure compliance with project specifications and regulations.
• Support commissioning, testing and final handover activities.
• Maintain high standards of health and safety, quality assurance and project documentation.

Salary: Up to £90,000 + Package

The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer or Mechanical Project Manager to join a Tier One Main Contractor on a major life sciences project based in the Norwich area.

This is an opportunity to work on a technically challenging, high-specification development within the life sciences sector, playing a key role in the delivery of mechanical building services from installation through to commissioning and handover.

The successful candidate will have a strong mechanical engineering background, ideally with experience delivering mechanical packages on complex construction projects. Applicants must hold a relevant mechanical qualification or have a demonstrable engineering background, alongside the technical knowledge required to manage and coordinate mechanical building services.

Requirements

• Previous experience working as a Mechanical Project Engineer, Senior Mechanical Project Engineer or Mechanical Project Manager within the construction industry.


• Experience delivering mechanical building services packages on large-scale or technically complex projects.


• Strong knowledge of mechanical building services, installation methodologies and commissioning processes.Experience coordinating subcontractors, managing site activities and working alongside multidisciplinary project teams.


• Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.


• Previous experience within life sciences, pharmaceutical, healthcare, laboratory or other high-specification environments would be advantageous.
