Assystem in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer to join the Fusion and Modular Nuclear (FMN) unit, leading design and verification across cooling water interfaces and reactor components.

You will drive DFMEA/HAZID analyses, manage risk registers, and develop technical specifications while coordinating cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with project requirements and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Leadership of multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Experience with steam cycle modelling and design.
• Budgeting and lifecycle planning for design projects.
• Expertise in cooling water systems for nuclear plants.
• Knowledge of ONR, Environment Agency and HSE regulations.
• Ability to capture and define technical requirements.
• Strong systems engineering mindset across interfaces.
• Experience managing subcontractors and suppliers.
• Chartered Engineer status or eligible for CEng.
• Eligible for UK SC security clearance.

Responsabilités

• Lead and coordinate design of cooling water and reactor interfaces.
• Perform DFMEA to identify failure modes early.
• Conduct HAZID to identify project risks.
• Maintain Human Factors checklists for usability in design.
• Update the project Risk Register and mitigation actions.
• Produce comprehensive design packages aligned with specs and standards.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams and supplier interfaces.
