Job summary

Black & White Engineering in Newcastle is seeking an Associate Director with a Mechanical Engineering background to lead the mechanical design of data centres and other mission-critical facilities across Europe. You will guide projects from concept and technical design through to construction support and commissioning, driving resilience, efficiency and uptime.

The role requires strong leadership, client engagement and mentoring of junior engineers, with experience in HVAC, cooling technologies,

Qualifications

• Mechanical/Building Services degree required.
• Experience delivering mechanical design for data centres or similar critical facilities.
• Proven client-facing ability and leadership in multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design strategies for data centre projects.
• Coordinate with electrical, civil, and project management teams.
• Engage with clients and stakeholders to shape solutions.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers.
• Oversee design reviews, calculations, and construction support.
