You'll be joining a long-established and highly respected Building Services contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality mechanical projects. The company works across a variety of sectors including healthcare, education, retail, custodial, and commercial buildings, primarily in the Midlands. As a Mechanical Estimator, you'll play a key role in preparing accurate and competitive tenders for mechanical building services projects. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Visiting sites to assess and cost mechanical works
  • Preparing estimates using Excel or similar software
  • Requesting and managing quotes from suppliers and subcontractors
  • Reviewing drawings and specifications to clarify any uncertainties
  • Creating detailed cost breakdowns including materials, labour, and travel
  • Participating in internal bid reviews and client meetings
  • Writing clear and professional tender documents
  • Supporting project handovers to the delivery team
  • Tracking tender progress and following up for feedback

What you'll need to succeed

  • BTEC ONC/HNC in Building Services or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 GCSEs including Maths
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft 365 skills
  • Good understanding of mechanical systems in buildings
  • Excellent communication and attention to detail
  • Commercial awareness and ability to suggest value engineering ideas
