Job summary

Stantec in Manchester or Warrington is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design for major water and wastewater projects within AMP8 programmes. You will oversee design across treatment works, pumping stations and related infrastructure, and work with multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality outputs.

You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with project managers, and produce specifications and calculations from feasibility through to commissioning.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status or working towards.
• Experience delivering mechanical design in the UK water sector.
• Strong knowledge of water treatment processes, pumping stations and associated mechanical systems.
• Experience delivering technical design packages across multidisciplinary projects.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work with delivery contractors.
• Knowledge of digital engineering tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design activities across water and wastewater projects.
• Produce and review mechanical calculations, technical specifications, reports and engineering documentation.
• Deliver projects from feasibility and concept design through to detailed design, construction support and commissioning.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, efficient and sustainable engineering solutions.
• Mentor and support junior engineers while contributing to technical excellence across the team.
• Develop strong working relationships with clients, contractors and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
