Job summary

Oxford Spatial AI Startup is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to own mechanical design across hardware platforms, from concept through production. You will lead NPI efforts, scale manufacturing, and collaborate with robotics, software & electronics teams.

You will design complex assemblies using SolidWorks/3DEXPERIENCE, integrate LiDAR, GPS and computer vision components, and drive producibility and certification alignment. Hybrid Oxford work model offered.

Qualifications

• End-to-end mechanical design experience for hardware products.
• Ability to translate concepts into robust hardware solutions.
• Cross-functional collaboration across robotics, software and electronics.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end mechanical design activities across existing and future hardware products
• Design complex assemblies using SolidWorks and 3DEXPERIENCE
• Drive NPI/NPD initiatives and improve product manufacturability
• Integrate hardware components including LiDAR, GPS and computer vision systems
• Manage BOMs, procurement activities and manufacturing partnerships
• Support product certification including CE, FCC and UKCA compliance
• Lead prototyping, testing, validation and production scaling activities
• Working Model: Oxford, 3-4 days per week in the office, 1-2 days per week from home

The business is an Oxford-based robotics spin-out backed by approximately £4m in Seed funding and is preparing for its next stage of growth. Their products combine LiDAR, computer vision and advanced positioning technologies to deliver real-time spatial intelligence solutions. This is an opportunity to join early, take ownership of core hardware development, and play a key role in scaling a cutting-edge technology platform.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will own mechanical design and product development across the company's hardware platform. You will have significant responsibility across product innovation, manufacturing, supply chain and production scaling while collaborating closely with robotics, software and electronics teams.
