ALink Recruitment is working with an engineering consultancy based in Canary Wharf, seeking a Senior/Lead Mechanical Engineer with a strong rail background. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing consultancy that offers career progression and diverse project work.

In this role, you will develop mechanical engineering solutions for various clients' projects within the rail industry, from concept to construction. It provides a chance to work with successful teams and some of the best engineers on major projects across the UK rail sector.

The role encompasses technical delivery, work winning, and client engagement. Our ideal candidate is adaptable, pragmatic, and passionate about delivering solutions to improve infrastructure within the rail industry.

Role accountabilities:

1. Interpretation and implementation of client specifications in design and engineering solutions.
2. Design of pipework systems including heating, cooling, and water systems.
3. Design of ventilation systems.
4. Selection of plant and equipment such as Air Handling Units, Fans, Pumps, Boilers, Chillers, Ductwork, and associated components.
5. Contributing to technical proposals and presenting to clients.
6. Ensuring effective delivery of project tasks within time, quality, and budget constraints.
7. Maintaining relationships with client representatives and contributing to marketing efforts.
8. Mentoring and developing team members, including graduate engineers.
9. Managing multiple projects to meet delivery milestones.
10. Implementing digital initiatives to improve project efficiency.

Requirements

Essential Criteria:

• Right to work in the UK.
• Degree in Engineering (BSc, MSc, or MEng) or equivalent.
• At least 5+ years of post-graduate experience in mechanical engineering.
• Experience in the Rail Industry, understanding rules and regulations.
• Experience in mechanical building services design in the rail environment.
• Knowledge of plumbing, waste, drainage, and BMS controls for mechanical systems.
• Familiarity with mechanical engineering standards and specifications.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and within deadlines.
• Proactive, quick learner with a desire to broaden knowledge.
• Ability to build relationships and work in multidisciplinary teams.
• Proficient in MS Office and project management software.
• Problem-solving attitude for cost-effective and innovative designs.

Desirable Criteria:

• Working towards Chartered Mechanical Engineer status (CEng, IMechE).
