Job summary

Essar Energy Transition (EET) is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to provide specialist leadership across a diverse portfolio of projects, ensuring safe, compliant, and high-quality delivery from concept through to start-up. Working within multi-disciplinary teams, you will act as a key technical authority supporting project execution while aligning with site standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Significant mechanical engineering experience in a large industrial environment (preferably Upper Tier COMAH).
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
  • Strong safety awareness and understanding of petrochemical equipment and systems.
  • Knowledge of engineering standards (API, DEP, BS, etc.).
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks in a fast-moving environment.
  • Experience in risk assessment and mitigation.
  • Site mechanical signatory holder for plant changes or working towards.

Responsibilities

  • Providing mechanical engineering expertise and technical assurance across all project phases.
  • Leading and reviewing discipline deliverables to ensure compliance with engineering standards and governance requirements.
  • Supporting HSE performance through participation in HAZOPs, risk assessments, PSSRs, and other safety-critical activities.
  • Acting as the mechanical focal point for project tie-ins, plant modifications, and turnaround execution.
  • Collaborating with Operations, Engineering, Turnaround, and Process Safety teams to ensure successful project integration.
  • Supporting vendor and contractor selection through technical evaluations and bid reviews.
  • Mentoring engineers across UK and Mumbai project teams, promoting technical excellence and continuous improvement.

What We’re Looking For
Qualifications & Experience
