Job summary

Hoare Lea invites applications for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Manchester team. You will deliver high‑quality, sustainable mechanical solutions across diverse built environment projects, from inception to handover.

You will lead a discipline, coordinate with MEP and external consultants, and mentor junior staff. The role offers hybrid working and opportunities to influence design excellence across residential, hospitality, and commercial sectors.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical/Building Services Engineering or equivalent.
• Working towards or holding IEng/CEng.
• Strong technical competence in HVAC systems and ability to produce calculations and drawings.
• Proficient with Revit, AutoCAD and MS Office.
• Ability to lead disciplines and larger schemes independently.

Responsibilities

• Take briefs and deliver mechanical design work from inception through completion.
• Produce mechanical calculations, drawings and technical documentation meeting regulations and client standards.
• Coordinate mechanical design with other disciplines and third‑party consultants.
• Review contractor submissions and verify site installations against design intent.
• Attend design team, client and project meetings and report progress.
• Witness testing and commissioning activities and support handover documentation.
• Manage workload to meet programme deliverables and report to line manager.
• Contribute to junior staff development and mentoring.
