Job summary

Leonardo UK Ltd. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team in the UK, delivering mechanical solutions across the full lifecycle. The role combines on-site and remote work with some Basildon site attendance as required by customer needs.

You will work with experienced engineers to apply design methods, perform calculations, and advance next-generation products while ensuring safety and reliability across harsh operating environments.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related Defence environment) with relevant experience.
• Experience designing systems for harsh environments (shock, vibration, etc).
• Mechanical design using 3D CAD tools (preferably Creo).
• Structured problem solving to investigate issues and problems.
• Ability to interpret structural and thermal analyses data.
• Experience with Design for X (DfX) including Manufacturing, Assembly, Test, Integration.

Responsibilities

• Produce manufacturing data packs with BS8888 and GD&T.
• Support technical investigations and resolution of issues.
• Contribute to reviews of mechanical designs to meet standards.
• Hands-on development builds and Design of Experiments.
• Assist introduction of new products into development/production lifecycle.
• Contribute to Work Package delivery for Quality, Schedule and Cost.
