Senior Mechanical Engineer - Gas Projects

Location: Warrington

Job Description
  • Reporting to the Mechanical & Piping Engineering Manager, responsible for mechanical and piping engineering and design within multi-discipline EPCM or EPC projects.
  • Manage projects from concept design through to execution design.
  • Opportunity to work across sectors like Oil & Gas, Energy, Utilities, Nuclear, Chemicals, and Food, on both small and large projects.
  • Ensure quality in engineering designs and project deliverables, including checking and approval processes.
  • Ensure designs comply with CDM regulations, relevant standards, and specifications.
  • Complete mechanical and piping designs within scope, time, and budget, managing change control and interdisciplinary consistency.
  • Participate in design reviews and secure client acceptance of designs.
  • Make independent technical decisions and provide expert support within the mechanical engineering team.

Your Profile

If you meet the following criteria, we look forward to your application:

  • Qualification in Mechanical Engineering, preferably Degree level (BEng or MEng).
  • Over 5 years of experience as Lead/Senior/Principal Engineer in multi-discipline projects.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) with IMechE or equivalent (preferable).
  • Knowledge of general engineering standards and specifications (essential), IGEM standards (preferred).
  • Understanding of mechanical engineering principles and their application in design.
  • Knowledge of other disciplines (Civil, Structural, EC&I, Process).
  • Experience with mechanical specifications, basis of design, calculations, drawings, 3D models, and design risk assessments.
  • Experience applying piping design codes to ASME and BS EN standards.
  • Experience with Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) and Pressure Equipment Safety Regulations (PESR).
  • Result-oriented with a focus on client satisfaction and quality delivery.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, understanding inter-disciplinary dependencies.
  • Familiarity with main mechanical design packages like AutoCAD, Plant3D, E3D, Caesar II.
  • Understanding of change control procedures.
  • Ability to develop and present comprehensive design packages.
  • Preparedness for chairing design review meetings.
  • Ability to meet UK security clearance requirements (preferable).
